Background |
Immunoglobulin M, or IgM for short, is a basic antibody that is produced by B cells. It is the primary antibody against A and B antigens on red blood cells. IgM is by far the physically largest antibody in the human circulatory system. It is the first antibody to appear in response to initial exposure to antigen. |
Method of Purification |
Bovine IgM was purified by delipidation, selective precipitation and tandem molecular sieve chromatography followed by dialysis. |

0.1-M TRIS-HCl, pH 8.0, with 0.5M NaCl, and 0.1% NaN3. |
Storage |
Store at 4 deg C until reconstitution. Following reconstitution aliquot and freeze at -20 deg C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. |
