Description |
Mouse monoclonal CD86 antibody (FITC) |
Background |
CD86, also known as B70/B7-2, is a 80 kDa type I integral membrane protein and a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is expressed at high levels on resting monocytes and dendritic cells and at very low levels on resting B and T lymphocytes. Activation of B cells, T cells and monocytes leads to upregulation of CD86 expression. Like CD80, CD86 is a ligand of CD28 and CD152. The interactions of CD86 (and CD80) with CD28 provides important costimulatory signals to T cells activated via the CD3/TCR complex. CD86 is expressed earlier than CD80 and appears to dominate in the primary immune response. |
