|Biological Significance||ADH1C belongs to the zinc-containing alcohol dehydrogenase family. Members of this enzyme family metabolize a wide variety of substrates, including ethanol, retinol, other aliphatic alcohols, hydroxysteroids, and lipid peroxidation products. ADH1 is a monomorphic and predominant in fetal and infant livers, becoming less active in gestation and only weakly active during adulthood. Recombinant human ADH1C protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.|
