Bovine Serum

Serum albumin is the main protein of plasma and has a good binding capacity for water, Ca2+, Na+, K+, fatty acids, hormones, pharmaceutical molecules and more. Bovine serum albumin (BSA) is a globular protein that is used in numerous biochemical applications due to its stability and lack of interference with biological reactions. Its main function is the regulation of the colloidal osmotic pressure of blood, it is also a major zinc transporter in plasma. Serum also binds to many other water-insoluble molecules. Serum has a particular affinity for many drug molecules, such as ibuprofin, and can strongly affect the way they are delivered through the body.

Fitzgerald Industries supplies high quality, highly pure Bovine Serum, the ideal choice for any laboratory application from cell culture to immunoassays and immunohistochemistry. As well as our standard Normal Bovine Serum, we also offer a number of different grades of BSA such as:

Bovine Serum Albumin

99% pure BSA supplied in a lyophilized form for dilution into your buffer of choice.

Heat Shock grade BSA

This BSA is purified and heat shock treated by proprietary methods.

Reagent Grade BSA

Highest purity BSA available for laboratory use.

Protease-Free BSA

This BSA again has been purified by heat shock and is completely protease free for use with active proteins and where intact proteins are crucial to the assay.

Microbiological Grade BSA

This BSA Cohn Fraction V is 99% pure and is sterile such that it can be used in microbiological applications.

We also provide a high purity FBS liquid Media option which is of US origin.

We also have a range of BSA antibodies such as this monoclonal BSA antibody and this chicken polyclonal BSA antibody both of which can be used in ELISA and western blots.
