CD14 antibody

CD14 antibodies (or Cluster of differentiation 14 antibodies) are used to study CD14 a important surface antigen involved in the innate immune response which is preferentially expressed on monocytes/macrophages. It cooperates with other proteins in order to mediate the innate immune response to bacterial lipopolysaccharides.

CD14 exists in two forms, one anchored to the membrane by a glycosylphosphatidylinositol tail, the other a soluble form. CD14 recognises the presence of bacterial lipopolysaccharides by acting as a receptor for lipopolysaccharides as well as several other bacterial epitopes. When CD14 binds to lipopolysaccharide it then delivers it to the MD-2/TLR4 complex for neutralization.

CD14 is a key indicator of immune function and CD14 antibodies are commonly used to research immune responses.
