GFP antibody

GFP antibodies are commonly used to detect GFP tagged proteins. GFP or green fluorescent protein is a protein first isolated from the jellyfish Aequorea victoria. GFP is widely used across the pharmaceutical, medical and biotechnology sectors due to the fact that that it exhibits bright green fluorescence when exposed to ultraviolet light. Attaching a GFP protein to any molecular target of interest greatly increases its visibility and ease of detection in a procedure such as an immunoassay. Another major application of GFP is in its use as a reporter of expression. GFP producing genes added to a recombinant organism provide a relatively easy way of checking if translocation of recombinant genetic material has been successful. In a similar fashion, GFP can also be used to studygene expression using substitution studies.

Epitope tags such as GFP are useful for the labeling and detection of proteins using immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, and immunostaining techniques. Because of their small size, they are unlikely to affect the tagged protein's biochemical properties. Fitzgerald Industries supplies a wide range of GFP antibodies and GFP proteins as well as antibodies to other epitope tags. Our high quality GFP antibodies are available in monoclonal and polyclonal formats from most commonly used host species.

Some of our most popular GFP antibodies include:

GFP antibody - This chicken polyclonal GFP antibody is excellent for use in immunofluorescence as shown below. It is raised using a purified recombinant green fluorescent protein (GFP) emulsified in Freund’s adjuvant.

GFP antibody  - This rabbit polyclonal GFP antibody reacts with wild-type GFP and its variants, such as EGFP and EBFP. It is recommended for use in IP and Western Blot. It is supplied as a protein A purified rabbit IgG.

GFP antibody - This monoclonal GFP antibody clone 4B10B2 is affinity purified and validated for use in a variety of procedures including ELISA, Flow Cytometry, Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot. Its is a mouse IgG2a supplied as 1 mg/ml solution.
