Product Use Monoclonal CD4 antibody for specific for human CD4 for use in Flow Cytometry and Western Blot.
Biological Significance ?CD4 is an accessory protein for MHC class-II antigen/T-cell receptor interaction. May regulate T-cell activation. Induces the aggregation of lipid rafts. Associates with LCK. Binds to HIV-1 gp120 and to P4HB/PDI and upon HIV-1 binding to the cell membrane and is part of P4HB/PDI- CD4-CXCR4-gp120 complex. Interacts with HIV-1 Envelope polyprotein gp160 and protein Vpu. Interacts with Human Herpes virus 7 capsid proteins. Interacts with PTK2/FAK1. Associates with LCK. Expression Progenitors T-cells in the thymus initially do not express CD4 and another antigen called CD8 and develop into mature T-cells in several steps. Implications in Disease CD4 interacts directly with MHC class II molecules on antigen-presenting cells, presumably facilitating cell-to-cell interactions. On activated CD4+ T cells, CD4 molecules can also interact directly with the T-cell receptor complex to influence the immune response.
