Form & Buffer Supplied as a lyophilized powder. Reconstitute with 200 ul of distilled water. Final solution contains 10 mM sodium phosphate buffer pH 7.5, 6M urea, 2 mM DTT, 1mM EDTA, 10mM methylammonium chloride

Storage & Safety

Storage Store at 4 deg C until reconstitution. Following reconstitution aliquot and freeze at -20 deg C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

General Information

Biological Significance Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) is an intermediate filament (IF) protein that was thought to be specific for astrocytes in the central nervous system (CNS). Later, it was shown that GFAP is also expressed by other cell types in CNS, including ependymal cells.
