General Information

Biological Significance Hepatitis A is an extremely contagious liver infection caused by the hepatitis A virus. It is one of several hepatitis viruses which cause inflammation to the liver and affect its ability to function. It is spread when a person ingests tiny amounts of fecal matter, hence becoming contaminated.
