Usage & Assay Information

Usage Recommendations Intein protein (His tag) has been used in SDS-PAGE, and may be suitable for use in other applications, to be determined by the end user.

Storage & Safety

Storage Can be stored at 4 deg C short term (1-2 weeks). For long term storage, aliquot and store at -20 deg C or -70 deg C. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing cycles.

General Information

Biological Significance Intein-CBD, also known as Intein, is a segment of a protein that is able to excise itself and rejoin the remaining portions with a peptide bond. Most reported inteins also contain an endonuclease domain that plays a role in intein propagation. In fact, many genes have unrelated intein-coding segments inserted at different positions. Since then, inteins have been found in all three domains of life (eukaryotes, bacteria, and archaea) and in viruses. Recombinant Bacillus circulans Intein, fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
