Cancer protein

The defining feature of cancer is the unrestrained cell proliferation that defies normal constraints of cellular division resulting in a population of cells that reproduce beyond normal limits, invade and destroy adjacent tissues, and can spread and colonise other sites. Cancer is believed to be responsible for 13% of deaths globally and is commonly one of the main causes of death in developed nations. Worldwide, breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed life-threatening cancer in women and the leading cause of cancer death among women. Prostate cancer is the main cause of cancer death among men.

Cancer research is a multibillion-dollar global industry and one of the main challenges in modern medicine. Fitzgerald Industries supplies a huge range of cancer associated proteins and antigens for research and diagnostic purposes. Our range of high quality native and recombinant proteins is the ideal choice for use in research and diagnostic applications.

We have an extensive list of antibodies and proteins relating to cancers of the breast, prostate, lung, ovary, testis, stomach, bladder, kidney, and brain, for example;  BRCA, MUC1, CA 15-3, CA 27-29, CA 125, ERBB2, CEACAM , Neu, c-myc, Survivin, p53, IGF, CEA, AFP, PSA, PAP, and hundreds more. Many of these cancer proteins and antibodies are recommended for use in ELISA and other immunoassays, Immunohistochemistry, Western Blotting, experimental controls and more.

MUC1 antibody IHC staining

This immunohistochemistry image shows MUC1 staining of in gastric cancer cells, using MUC1 antibody (70R-7293). Some of our most popular cancer related proteins include:

PSA protein

PSA or Prostate Specific Antigen is a glycoprotein enzyme, it is present in small quantities in the serum of men with healthy prostates, but is often elevated in the presence of prostate cancer or other prostate disorders. PSA screening may also detect prostatitis or benign prostatic hyperplasia.

This native PSA protein is >98% pure and was purified directly from human seminal fluid, or try this recombinant PSA protein which is ideally suited to ELISA assays and Latex Immunoturbidimetric assays.

PAP protein

PAP or Prostatic Acid Phosphatase is an enzyme produced in low amounts by the male prostate. Elevated PAP levels are an indicator of prostate cancer. PAP is commonly utilized in immunohistochemistry as a means of distinguishing between prostate and bladder cancer.

We offer a large selection of native PAP proteins such as this PAP protein has been is >95% pure 0.2 micron filtered from human seminal flui, as well as recombinant PAP such as this PAP protein which is recommended for use in both ELISA assays and Western Blot.

CEA protein

Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is a glycoprotein involved in cell adhesion. It is normally produced during fetal development, but the production of CEA stops before birth. Therefore, it is not usually present in the blood of healthy adults, and its presence can be an indicator of colon cancer.

This native CEA protein was purified to >80% from a human colon carcinoma which is supplied in a Tris buffer and validated for use in ELISA. This CEA protein is a highly purified native CEA which was purifed from human liver carcinoma and can also be used in ELISA assays.

CA 15-3 protein

CA 15-3 (Carcinoma Antigen 15-3), is a commonly used tumor marker. Overexpression of CA 15-3 is an indicator of breast cancer. This highly pure Human CA 15-3 protein is suitable for both ELISA and immunohistochemistry. It is supplied in 10KU vials but is also available in bulk CA 15-3 protein.

Below is a table which summarizes some of our best selling cancer proteins:
