General Information

Biological Significance PSIP1 is involved in particular in lens epithelial cell gene regulation and stress responses.
Expression PSIP1 is highly expressed in the presence of the menin/MLL protein complex. PSIP1 is found mainly in the nucleus and remains chromatin-associated throughout the cell cycle.
Implications in Disease A chromosomal aberration involving PSIP1 is associated with pediatric acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Defects in PSIP1 expression have also been linked with dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumors.
Sequence Information PSIP1 is composed of 530 amino acids with a molecular weight of 60103 Da. There is a PC4 and SFRS1-interacting protein at position 1 – 530 and a nuclear localization signal motif at position 146 – 156.
Post-Translational Modifications PSIP1 is citrullinated by PADI4. Ubiquitination occurs at Lys6, Lys75, Lys364, Lys407, Lys415, Lys422, Lys424 and Lys442. PSIP1 is phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR.
