Native proteins

Native proteins are proteins which are in their folded and/or assembled form, and are fully functional. They are unaltered by denaturing agent, such as heat, chemical, enzyme action, or the exigencies of extraction. The native state of a biomolecule may possess all four levels of biomolecular structure, with the secondary through quaternary structure being formed from weak interactions along the covalently-bonded backbone.

Fitzgerald Industries offer a huge range of native protein antigens, extracted in unmodified form from animal, cellular or serum sources. We supply native proteins for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, Functional Assays, Lateral flow and more.

We carry thousands of human, animal, viral and bacterial proteins in their native state at a variety of purity levels or conjugated to tags including biotin, fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), horseradish peroxidase (HRP), alkaline phosphate and others.

Our native proteins are the ideal choice for researchers studying cell biology and growth factors, protein modification and genetics, cancer treatments, cardiac markers, signal transduction, nutrition and metabolism, enzyme action and much more.

Some of our most popular native proteins include:

CA 125 protein

CA-125 (MUC16) is gaining importance as a tumor marker or biomarker that may be elevated in the blood of some patients with specific types of cancers, or other benign conditions. Our purified native CA 125 protein is purifed from human ascitic fluids and is >95% pure. It can be used in a number of applications as a positive control such as Western blotting, ELISA and Lateral Flow. This CA125 protein is partically purifed from a human ovarian adenocarcinoma cell line and is also an experimental control.

CEA protein

Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is involved in cell adhesion. It is normally produced during fetal development, but the production of CEA stops before birth. Therefore, it is not usually present in the blood of healthy adults, making it a tumor marker in cancer research. This CEA protein >80% purified by immunoaffinity column from human colon carcinoma. This CEA protein is ideal for ELISA assays while this highly purified CEA protein can be used as a control in a broad range of assays.

CA 15-3 protein

Another tumor marker, CA 15-3 has shown high specificity for breast tumors, Reoccurrence detection of breast cancer by CA 15-3 assay can preceed confirmation by radiological detection methods by 1-9 months. Although there have been numerous other breast cancer related biomarkers discovered and clinically investigated, no single protein has been proven to have greater specificity or sensitivity than the CA 15-3 Breast Tumor Antigen. This highly pure CA 15-3 protein can be used in IHC and ELISA as a positive control while our CA 15-3 protein is also ideal for use as a control in assay development.

Myoglobin protein

Myoglobin is released into the bloodstream following muscle injury, making it an ideal marker for detecting cardiac injury. This Myoglobin protein is 99% pure and sourced from human heart tissue. This Myoglobin protein has been validated in Latex Immunoturbidimetric Assays and is available in bulk quantities.
